Southend Air Festival 2010
Southend Radio 105.1 is proud to support the 2010 Southend Air Festival.
This will be the 25th year that Southend-on-Sea has staged one of Europe's largest free Airshows. The two day Southend Air Festival is undoubtedly the most spectacular event in Southend's calendar. Staged against the backdrop of the Thames Estuary along almost 2 miles of seafront, over 40 aircraft displays will be featured from across the ages. There are also numerous events and displays on the ground plus loads more fun for all the family on both days - Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday.
Southend Radio will also be right at the heart of this year's event - with live programmes and our fantastic roadshow on both days!
Live Coverage on Southend Radio 105.1
Craig Burchell will have all the build up live on Sunday morning, the travel news as you head into town, and details on what's happening and when so that you can plan your day. Then from midday, Mikey Porter and James O'Neill will have live coverage from the heart of the Festival (plus of course, all eighties songs on our Eighties Sunday!).
On Bank Holiday Monday Mikey will have all the build up for Day 2, and then from 2pm tune in to James and the sounds of the planes with all the news and information you need.
The Southend Radio Soundstage
There's live music on our Soundstage on the seafront from 12-2pm and 5-6pm on both Sunday and Monday, presented by our own Paul Lovett!
You'll see live music from singers including JD Bennett - The Soul Man, plus Lee Bennett, and Declan Hickling. There are tribute acts The Maximum Robbie Williams, and Sue O'Brien is one of the finest Shirley Bassey tributes you will ever see. All that, plus the highly talented Josh Dubovie performs live too, fresh from representing the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in Norway!
You can also see a performance from the Essex Pirates basketball team!
